319 W. Dominick St., Rome, NY in the 1830s. His son Martin ran the business with him and it continued for many years.

Marriage witnessed by Charles and Sarah Huffey. They both made their "mark". Also,
John could not write, he made his "mark" when married and his occupation was given as a laborer.
He was a "horsekeeper" when Charles married Sarah Snell. His father's name was recorded as "Cotton Huffy" at
John's marriage. The 1851 census lists him as living at The Green, Tostock. In the 1861, 1871 & 1881 census he is living at Leys Road,
Tostock.
